Herning's Jyske Bank Boxen will be the spectacular setting for world-class equestrianism for the Reem Acra FEI World Cup qualifying round in Dressage and CSI3* Jumping in central Jutland in 2017.
"In Herning we excel at staging major events. With the World Cup in Dressage, we are offering yet another spectacular world-class event. This is great for the people of Herning, who have the chance to get up close to the world's best riders and horses. And it is great for everyone working in the hotel, restaurant, retail and service industries in west central Jutland, which will all get a boost from visitors attending the event. Herning is already hosting the Triathlon and Road Cycling European Championships in 2017. With the World Cup in Dressage we can say for certain that this year once again we have lived up to our promise: in Herning, the sky's the limit," says Lars Krarup, Herning's mayor.
The World Cup event in Herning is hosted jointly by the Danish Warmblood Horse Breeding Society, the Danish Equestrian Federation, Equitour Aalborg, MCH, and Herning Municipality.
For the last ten years the Reem Acra FEI World Cup in Dressage has been launched in Denmark, with the qualifying round of this prestigious competition taking place at the JBK Horse Show in Odense every October. Now the World Cup is moving west. For the next two years, the first qualifier will take place in Herning, where enthusiasts for equestrianism will have the chance to experience dressage and jumping at the highest standard. The event continues to be scheduled in October in the school autumn holiday.
"Best of all is that we have been able to keep the World Cup in Denmark after the partnership between JBK Horse Shows and Odense Municipality came to an end. This means a great deal for the future of the sport. On top of that, our hosting the World Cup in Herning in cooperation with the Danish Warmblood Horse Breeding Society, with their fund of experience in staging the Herning Horse Show, sends a very clear signal that breeders and the sport are working together towards the same objective. It is also fantastic that so many deeply committed enthusiasts will be on side to carry through the huge undertaking that a World Cup competition represents. I would like to thank our two partners, MCH and Herning Municipality, for their support. We are looking forward to great teamwork," says Jens-Erik Majlund, the Secretary-General of the Danish Equestrian Federation.
Lars Lundow, director of Sport Event Denmark, previously a World Cup partner in Odense, is also very glad that the World Cup is staying in Denmark. "There are exciting developments down the line in both short and medium term for the event. We can be confident that the World Cup in the Jyske Bank Boxen, one of Denmark's largest multi-arenas, will be a great match," says Lundov.
